Chapter 4(Awakening)
ReplyDelete1A. In the novel, Night, Elie has choice to refuse to give Idek his gold crown for he knew Idek would use this possession towards his benefit. Logically Elie knows that if he didnt give him the gold crown he would then be beaten, yet still refuses to do so. Elie has stood up for what he believes and his say, and that has shown Elie to be couragous.
2A. Elie is experiencing a harsh journey and clearly shows his ability to confront his fears as well as standing strong against the Germans. He will grasp the knowledge and understanding to fight this battle on his own, realizing or awaken that it is one man for himself. His father can no longer protect him, Elie must learn to protect himself during this rampage.
1B. Thinking and learning has given Siddhartha the choice to move forward and now be able to grasp the meaning of his life. He shows compassion and understanding to learn freely and actually lets go to become a free thinker. Siddhartha no longer surpresses under a "name", and choice to be one with himself to enlighten others. He no longer lives under a samana, and wants to teach himself the meaning of sprituality and life.
2B. Siddhartha can visualize this destiny of life in away that he can fully understand. He has seen the brighter illustration and can now understand what path he will choose in life. This has evolved into a postive outcome for he now feels confident to be himself and no one else.
C-
1. POWER- Elie and Siddhartha uphold a power of strength and courage to feel free, in Elie's case to stand strong against the battle.
2. Authority- Elie fights against his authority in this case the Germans. Siddhartha is his own authority, he reveals his inner disapline ways.
3. Law- In this case LAW is a princable to follow and obey. Elie must obey his authority to avoid death. Siddhartha creates his own law and understanding. For instance he beliefs and values demonstrate many laws, and princables.
Chapter 5(Amoung the Children; Kamala)
ReplyDelete1. Our world doesnt always give you what you want, you must earn inorder to recieve. The world through each of the characters show similiarities and differences. Siddhartha has seen the world as a game and you must win to stand strong for your self being. Elie too has seen the world as a game, and you must fight to win your life in his case. Kamala has seen the world to be full of joy and postive energy that everyone loves her and respects her. For Elie's father he begins to lose faith in this world, god and himself.
2. Elie would most likely disagree with Siddhartha and say that it is good to love and to be loved. THrough Elie's point of view his loved ones are the ones helping him throughout this journey, and he must love to survive this game or you will lose the faith in himself and others. His father has guided him throughout this journey, and Elie is starting now to realize his father need his son more than Elie needs his father. Without this love hope in Elie's life would be distroyed.
3. Elie would say to Siddhartha that he must not be so selfish and realize how important to stand strong for himself. Life doesnt give you happiness you must create your own happiness and love.
4. Siddhartha would most likely say to stay strong and never lose hope, there is light at the end of this tunnel. Keeping the faith within your heart is the secret in winning this game. You must learn how to have self awarness for mainly yourself, you are the gamer and only you has the power to fight against evil. Never trust noone and remain as Elie, noone else.
5. Both characters would aruge that life is basically a game, and the only way to win is to stay true to yourself. Having faith and believing in your vaules can help you understand the world beyond. Noone can change you for the better you must see the change and evolve from this view. Life will not give you what you want you must earn to receive. Elie has shown strength and courage throughout this journey and for Siddhartha, he has realized his standpoint in life.
Chapter 6(Samsara)
ReplyDelete1. In both novels, Siddhartha and Elie are experiencing life in a new perspective. Siddhartha's situation is basically catch 22, moving on and starting a new life for himself has changed for the negative though he soon realizes his selffish ways. It is basically a game to fight to stay true to yourself. In Elie's point of view he too is battling against all odds. Basically he is fightin to stay alive, a game of trust and courage.
2. These quotes indicate that both Elie, and Siddhartha have hit a bump along there journies. Elie has clearly understood that he must conquer his inner strength and mind to fight for himself and his father. He basically cannot do or say anything to justify his freedom. Therefore he lets himself go into another mind set.
For Siddhartha he comes to an understanding that his selfish ways do not justify for good and has only brought out the worst in himself. He is now feeling this pain and hatred. His soul has died and now he must research for it. This is a negative turning point yet demonstrates the positive outcome it will brinh about.
3. The main difference is that siddhartha has lost his vaules and morals within himself, and Elie now must reconnect towards a positive mind set.
By the River
ReplyDelete1. In the novel Siddhartha, Siddhartha continues to experience many changes within himself to discover the path he must follow in his life. By recovering many hidden pasts he must continue to regain the peace he never had. In Elie's case, he must continue to fight during this harsh journey, as he barely continues to keep the faith within himself to see the positive that might accure along the way. Now that his father is gone he must continue to be strong and to never back down from this fight.
2. Siddhartha experiences many changes in this novel, and now he has changed to be a soulfull man wanted to leave all his past behind and return to the river. He will learn to later love himself and see these positive changes being made. For Elie, he is learning to finally stand alone without the help of his father, now that he is halfway along the journey he can too realize what an effort he has made without the support of his father.
3. During the death of Elie's father, elie was lost and incomplete though had to continue his life and make the best of it. Siddhartha does the same when his old friend doesnt regonize him and discovers heartche within himself.
4. By loosing the strength and that "bird" so to speak within yourself, you've lost a part of you that you can never recover. For Elie he must recover an inner peace within himself before he could continue his life and start of fresh like siddhartha once did.
Final Assignment
ReplyDelete1. In this case Moshe the Beadle is Elie's ferryman because he has shown Elie peace and joy, as well as allowing him learn beyond the teachings of his father. I would say the concentration camp is the river. Elie has grown and discovered many strengths within himself he never seen before.
2. Elie's father would clearly state that a good father would allow their child to feel free because at any time their life could be taken away and devoured. (In this case Elie and his father were sent to the camp)..Let your son feel free to explore the mind of youth; you cant change people they must see the change and change themselves.
